Welcome to theLangkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge, or LIMBC, Asia’s most promising and exciting mountain bike stage race (some say it’s the hottest too!). Langkawi, the beautiful ‘Island of Legends’ off the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia offers just about everything for the adventurous and those seeking major mountain biking fun in the sun.



LIMBC attracts every level of rider – male and female – across all ages from 19- 60 year olds. The LIMBC mixes the Top UCI MTB World Cup contenders and regular and ever enthusiastic International and local ‘Weekend Warrior’ traveling from the 4 corners of the globe and our nearby ASIAN neighbours, racing side by side across all categories, looking for the best in race experience and adventure –Langkawi Welcomes YOU!!!!!



LIMBC is a world-class Mountain Bike (MTB) race event sanctioned and endorsed by the world governing body the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) for its high quality organisation and amazing race experience. Making it one of the “must attend”, Mountain Biking events in Asia, Langkawi is highly recommended for the individual thrill seeker offering all round fun filled adventure settings, not forgetting for the family oriented, idyllic, beautiful beaches and amazing natural surroundings. The LIMBC course offers participants the best and most scenic places that Langkawi has to showcase from its treasured and famous landmarks some of which include the stunning Eagle Square, Telaga Harbour, Oriental Village, Langkawi GeoPark and a stunning beach finale at Pantai Kok.







The challenge itself presents an exciting yet demanding balance of world class open single track trails, traversing a multitude of terrains including rubber plantations, idyllic beaches, paddy fields, mountainous jungle and a 300 million year old rainforest!



Since 2010, LIMBC has made great progress. Beginning in 2012, a short opening prologue had been introduced to ‘gently’ get things underway followed by longer and more technical stages. The Men’s Elite, a category traditionally dominated by top European riders in the past saw the 2013 edition won by top crowd favourite Japanese Rider Kohei Yamamoto(JPN) of Specialized Racing Team a regular face on the UCI World Cup field, the 1stASIAN winner in the history of LIMBC, while returning defending champion Lea Davison(USA) also of the Specialized Racing Team, grabbed the Women’s Elite title for the second year in a row. This years’ LIMBC –our 5th edition, features six stages around-the-island and a few extra challenges and changes, one thing that we’re pretty sure is unlikely to change is the temperature and the level of competition…. which we guarantee will be EXCITING, FAST, HOT and HUMID!
